-- A Critical Analysis Of A Picture – Rajya Sabha v/s Central Vista--
What kind of a tale wouldn’t have a protagonist and an antagonist? A Tale is often told from the lead character’s point of view and is often glorified, but how about changing the angle of perception? After all,“Until the lions have their own historians, the history of the hunt will always glorify the hunter”.

Democracy is often termed as the rule for the people, of the people, and by the people. Our parliament represents people from every corner of the country! The diversity and rich culture of India is portrayed in the picture. The people are happy to be a part of making decisions for themselves which will improve their lives gradually. But do they have to take up so much burden of holding the roof on their heads?

The nation sustains on the taxes they collect from the people, however, there isn’t a single business man in sight in the picture! The rural population of India is burdened by this system and even after helping to sustain the nation, they are left to remain in the exteriors of the building!

Does this draining away of money for the so-called development lead to a crisis in the name of humanity?
Well, the central vista project would certainly need a massive amount of funds which will be collected from the common man and eventually lead to him being wrapped in a

white cloth for not being able to manage his family/finances. Does one have to sacrifice so much in the name of development? Is this project so necessary?
While one may object with words like the current parliament has become weak, it is earthquake-prone, it doesn’t have enough seats, etc, how about they go ahead and dig deeper into how much of an impact it would create in our lives?

One could also look at how the structure of our current parliament house is.
A circular building with several gates, a metaphor for people of various backgrounds and needs to have an opening in their lives. Thus giving them a chance to improve their lifestyles and make sure that their voices are heard.
It represents that the government is one whole system that would strive together as one unit to benefit its people.
The central vista, triangular in shape with several sectors, represents how we have divided ourselves into segments, representing discrimination on the grounds of class. Only one gate is shown, which could give us a message that perhaps only a special sect of people will be benefitted.

Our minds often play dirty tricks and associate colours with words. So here is another perspective in terms of colour!

One could say that the first picture is more white which portrays that there is more chance to provide justice, given the range of people being involved. It has some portions of black too which could mean that even though there are conflicts, they can be settled by abiding by the rules.

There is no grey region in the second picture, making me wonder if there is any room for adjustment? Is it only a yes (white) or a no(black) decision that has to be made? The majority of the portion being black, one may wonder if it would include a various range of opinions or only like-minded ones.

We being the villains for protesting against it surely does make it a tale! Perhaps in this tale, the hero and the villain both have the same aim, which is to benefit the nation, but maybe we just don’t know how to understand each other’s versions.
After all, in our society, a tale is only told from a hero’s perspective!
